August 8

We stayed the night of August 7 at a B&B in Port Union, Newfoundland and spent the day of August 8 exploring the Bonavista Peninsula.  Our first stop was Elliston to watch puffins nesting on rocks and humpback whales in the ocean.  Then we visited a lighthouse and regional museum in Bonavista.  For the afternoon we attended a two-hour walking performance in the town of Trinity.  We learned the history of Newfoundland as told through the songs and stories shared with us by a cast of characters in period costumes.
